Hi all

I see most users are American. I need to use a respectable prenatal DNA test company in the U.K. Does anybody know of a company safe to use?

Thanks in advance

I don't think there is such a thing as a respectable dna tests for unborn babies is there? Can't you wait?

Yes it's a blood sample from mother and a swab from potential father.

No I can't.
The situation is completely innocent. One drunken night out led to my partner and I engaging in a drunken fling with another couple which are our friends. My likely conception day is this night. Unfortunately one potential father is white and the other is black.

I would hate to go through with the pregnancy and have to explain to my parents and his parents what has happened. I'm sure you can all imagine the embarrassment this will cause. We are 99% sure it is my partners baby, we need to know for definite to put our minds at rest or prepare to explain to our family what has occurred. I am currently 4 weeks approx.

Most users here are in the UK.

I think you will need to wait for the placenta to be fully formed and it will carry risks for the baby. Are you ok with that?

Websites are saying it can be done from 9 weeks. And then it's a blood test from me.

I just need to find out a company that isn't a scam, a lot look suspicious.

The prenatal DNA test that uses the mothers blood usually is one looking for chromosomal abnormalities. I'm not sure if it can be used to compare against other DNA to predict the father, as far as I know they simply look at the structure of specific chromosomes to make sure there are no trisomies. That in itself is around £500. I imagine a test that can tell you the father will be much, much more expensive

You'd need an amniocentesis for a DNA test. Then cheek swabs from you and DH.

Hi guys
I have done my research and a prenatal non invasive DNA test is available via blood sample. Baby's DNA is passed through the placenta into moms blood stream. So a Blood test from mom and swab from dad is okay. I just need to find a company in the U.K. I can trust. As several are known to be scams!

Sarah you may not be getting the replies you want/need from this board. This is mainly used for women going through an antenatal diagnosis so although it is the correct board for your question you may get better responses on a more general board possibly.

It may be worth calling some of the private Harley st clinics that offer nipt tests and seeing if they can advise you on companies that can do the test you are after.
