Should I get Harmony test done?

Hi I'm pregnant with my second child. Will be 44 when this one is born. I'm concerned about risk of baby having chromosome problems.
Have had the nhs combined screening result and it's low risk (1/1473). I have been thinking about getting the harmony blood test done privately whilst waiting for the nhs screening result. However now my results are back (and i think are relatively good given my age) I'm wondering whether it would be worth getting the harmony blood test done as well.
Any advice from people in similar situation would be appreciated. Thanks

I had DS2 at 40 and chose to have the Harmkny done through the hospital even though my combined screening results were very good. It cost about £250 through the hospital and the results were back in 2 weeks. It definitely have me peace of mind re. trisomies.

I'm 38, if you look at the base average risk rating for your age, those odds are very very positive, I'd be very reassured by them. If you need extra reassurance then go for the Harmony but remember although it is very accurate it is still just a screening test and not diagnostic. I've had it twice, once after a high risk indicated from NHS (1:145) which was sadly confirmed by the Harmony and subsequent amnio. I had a late termination after poor prognosis. I'm pregnant again and due to my age and previous loss affecting risk factors I went straight for Harmony which came back low risk (although I have a high NT measurement, so waiting for heart scan and possible investigations for other chromosomal issues the Harmony doesn't not screen for which is very stressful). Given my background and obvious concerns if I had gone through NHS screening and got your results I'd be comforted, and saved the money from the Harmony towards something nice as a treat for being pregnant! Thanks for your replies. I think my results are good given my age and it's reassuring to hear some others agreeing. I realise harmony is not 100% accurate either and is only screening. I guess I'm just a worrier but I should probably try to relax now!

Bucking the trend here, but I would just do it - I am a total worrier!

My combined odds were always fine but have had it twice in any event for 2nd and 3rd pregnancies (age 32 and 34 at time). I had my babies privately and the consultant told me last time round he now just suggests anyone over age 35 has it done.

BUT I am a MASSIVE worrier! Your odds are excellent for your age.
