Hi.
I had my CVS appointment today but the doctor wasn't able to perform the procedure as my intestine was in the way. Two das ago my NT was measured at 4.7mm so I was already really worried and now I have to wait another whole week to see IF things change and if it's possible for the procedure to go ahead in seven days. If not, I have to wait three weeks from now, only then they can do an amniocentesis. I'm 12 weeks 5 days today.
I have an urgent question that I'm really hopeful someone can answer. I tried to call my doctor who refered me to the hospital as well as other doctors after the appointment to get another opinion on this but they were all out of office for the weekend, already.
Why didn't the doctor offer to do the procedure trans-cervically? I only heard about this possibility afterwards. Is it possible he isn't trained for that?? If this is the case, I'm really upset about the waiting.
Or is a transcervical CVS less safe? In this case, I understand. I can't find any information regarding this online. Only that both ways are possible. On the NHS website it even says with the transcervical way the chances are better to reach the placenta.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
