So frustrated over 12 week scan!

Hi this is my first baby and im petrified but todays events have not helped. Im 12 wks 1d and met my midwife just under 2 weeks ago. Me and OH have been patiently awaiting our scan date since then til today when i caved and phoned the hospital..... They have no record of me as midwife hasnt referred me. Rang my doctors who said she was on leave til next Weds!!!! I would be 13 wks 2d by then! I Broke down in tears and bless them they referred me to another midwife who has managed to get me a forced appt next weds. Has this happened to anyone else and can i request a new midwife?

Unfortunately it's quite common. Do ask for a different midwife yes...I'm glad they got you in next week.

That is appalling, I wouldn't be very happy either.

Although everyone says 12 week scan it doesn't actually have to be when you are 12 weeks so don't worry. I had mine at 14 weeks as my dates were mixed up due to irregular periods!

The 12 week scan can be anytime between 11 plus 5 till I think 14 plus 1. So that's just fine. It shouldn't have happened though.

I'm also pregnant with my first baby, currently 16 weeks. May I ask why you are petrified?

They can do the nuchal fold measurement until 13+6. Beyond that you're relying on blood tests and soft markers alone to detect any problems.
