Early scan anyone? Partic older mums?

I am 42 and around 7/8 weeks pg. Shock pregnancy and concerned about many things. Just wondered if you had this scan and what it is able to tell you?

I'm 30 but having an early scan tomorrow at 8 ish weeks. Basically it should tell you if the baby has a heartbeat and the size of the baby (therefore approximate dates). It's just for reassurance really, to check everything is progressing as it should be. I'm not 100% sure on the stats but I think if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks you have a 95% chance of a successful pregnancy.

Oh and it will obviously tell you if it's a single or multiple pregnancy too.

I paid for a private scan on Saturday at 7wks6days. I'm 40. I wanted it just to confirm that there was actually a baby there and that it had a heartbeat which there was . The miscarriage risk drops significantly at this stage is a heartbeat can be seen. Also confirmed that there was just the one!
