I am so sorry to read this. We had terrible news at our 12w scan too and we chose to terminate the pregnancy once the suspicions were sadly confirmed three weeks later.
Do you have any support in RL? Are you able to talk to your midwife or anyone so they can explain to you what it means?
I'm sending you lots of hugs and love. Thanks

Am so sorry who. I had very bad news at my 12w scan too. I had a cvs and sadly it confirmed trisomy 18, for which I then terminated. It was an incredibly sad and dark time. I got enormous support on this board.

I found the CVS fine, physically. Am so sorry you are going through this. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks

I am trying to stay as positive as I can until I get the results next week but I'm finding it so so hard Sad

I'm really struggling as my dp has convinced himself that they got the scan wrong and its all a big mistake I have been told to pull myself together and stop worrying Confused

Please don't feel you have to "pull yourself together". It's a really tough time and all you can do is take one day at a time. Try to distract yourself with other things which is hard to do when you feel like you can't concentrate on the simplest things.
Go easy on yourself, it's a really tough time.
The actual cvs procedure isn't that bad, make sure you rest afterwards. The initial set of results usually only take 3 days or so to come back which means you only have the weekend to get through once you've had it done.

whohasnickedmyvodka · 10/09/2014 14:40

I have just had the hospital midwife call me and my bloods have come back I have a one in 3 chance of downs because of my age and the fluid might just be a plumbing problem that can heal its self so bumps odds have now gone up hugely :) :) :)

Definitely a step in the right direction. I remember reading that the closer to 13 weeks you have your scan then the greater the chance of the NT reading high without necessarily any problems.
Good luck for the CVS tomorrow and make sure you rest up afterwards. Which hospital are you at?

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 10/09/2014 16:15

That is good news op!

Good luck for tomorrow

whohasnickedmyvodka · 10/09/2014 16:46

I'm at treliske in truro I also asked the midwife about the chances of misscarge and how many has it happened to and the consultant hasn't had a miscarriage with it in over 3 years so that's brilliant odds :) :) :)

Abra1d · 10/09/2014 16:48

Fingers crossed for you. Those sound like much better odds.

whohasnickedmyvodka · 10/09/2014 16:51

Yes they do abra1d the midwife I spoke to was a specialist one so I feel alot more reassured if you know what I mean :) :) :)

Good luck for tomorrow. We also had bad news at our 12 week scan. It doesn't always end badly though. Mumsnet was such a support to me and there are some lovely ladies on these boards so please don't feel alone. Be kind to yourself xx

CarbeDiem · 10/09/2014 18:55

Sorry you had some scary news but that does sound more positive.
I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow Xx

whohasnickedmyvodka · 10/09/2014 18:55

Thank you lucky I'm ss about your news :( I'm just keeping everything crossed for the results next week xx

Hope it went well today op. I had a CVS at 13 weeks due to increased nuchal fold at the 12 week scan. Was told there was a 1 in 5 chance that the baby had a problem. We were very lucky and got the all clear.

Take care of yourself over the next few days as best you can xx

Monten · 10/09/2014 19:57

That sounds like much better news op. I hope it goes well tomorrow and the wait for results isn't too hard. X

CarmineRose1978 · 15/09/2014 19:17

My close friend had a 1 in 7 chance after the quad test, as the couldn't get the unchallenged fold measurement at the 12 week scan. She had the harmony test and it was all ok in the end, the baby is perfect. Fingers crossed for you OP.
