Testing for the older mum to be

I have just found out that I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I'm 48 in a couple of weeks Shock

I realise it's early days and Mother Nature may have other plans but if all is well I was wondering if anyone had experience of testing for the older parent?

Thank you

I'd look into the Harmony test, pricey but worth it for peace of mind x congratulations x

Congratulations! I don't know of any extra tests offered for older mums. Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy x

I had DS at 47. Didn't have any special testing. Hospital automatically booked me in for an amnio but after a good nuchal screen and bloods at 12 weeks, which put me at 1 in 250 for downs, I decided to decline the amnio due to mc risk. I would have the nuchal then decide if you want amnio.

I can recommend the Harmony too! Pricey but worth it.

I have heard it's being trialled in 5 hospitals across the UK but don't know which ones.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you xx

I think harmony will test from 10 weeks. I wish I had known this. I am 19 wks and just found out dc has ds. A lot harder to choose what to do so late in pg.
