Bfp after tfmr- how to organise harmony testing (North East of England)

Hi everyone. I am thrilled to find myself pregnant 4 months after the loss of our dd at 15 weeks. Thrilled, emotional, terrified!!!! Our dd had a rare chromosome disorder and based on my pregnancy history its probably not likely this child would be affected, but you never know..... So I'm thinking we'll go down the nifty / harmony testing route but not sure how to go about organising it. Definitely do not want cvs again. Can I refer myself for harmony / nifty or does my GP have to do it? If I was referred when I was 8/9 weeks pregnant would I still get an appointment for when I'm 10/11 weeks or do I need to book earlier? Also where would I go for it? Without meaning to sound like a cheap skate too does anyone know if any hospitals in the North East are trialing it so it would be potentially a lower cost or free? Not in the best financial position at the moment but I'll pay if I have to, desperate for everything to work out this time

Thanks Magnolia- looks like it's going to be Leeds for me too as thats the closest! Hope you get good results and have a healthy and happy pregnancy. Would be really grateful to hear your opinion of Nifty and Leeds afterwards x

I went to the one in Leeds too. The only thing that was bad ( and it's not really their fault) is my bloods didn't work the first time, so I had to have mine done twice and waited about 6 weeks in total - which was agony. Xx

I'm in London but self-referred too. As you mention that your daughter had a rare chromosomal abnormality, I thought I should mention I don't know about Nifty but Harmony only tests for Down's, Edward's and Patau's. If you want a full Karotype I think the only way is CVS/amnio.

Thanks tea- hope you're doing ok? x Thanks to eurochick too, it was one of my enquires to make. On the website magnolia gave me the link too it does list several disorders it checks for where you have more than 2 x chromosomes so maybe??? (dd had an extra 3 x chromosomes) Fingers crossed

Glad to hear you're doing ok tea. Its still early days though so be kind to yourself and hope you getting lots of support. Feeling terrified! I wanted to be pregnant so badly but now my heads all over the place wondering if we're doing the right thing. I'm scared that if it all goes horribly wrong again I'll lose it. I wish I could fast forward the next 8 weeks or so x

Appointment for NIFTY went fine. Staff very pleasant & professional. Explained scan results/findings as she was doing it. All ok on ultrasound. Blood results will take up to 18 calendar days. If there's anything else I can tell you - let me know!

Thanks magnolia, glad it went well and really hope you get good results. How long were you there for and sorry if sound a bit daft but did you find hospital ok and was it easy enough to get parked? How long were you there for? Did they tell you the nuchal fold measurement and whether this was ok or not? In our last pregnancy ours was 6.88 which was well out of range and the first indicator that things were not progressing well. Hoping that if ours is in range this time its a good sign and the long wait for results won't be as nerve wracking. Thanks again for letting me know x

Not daft at all - getting there and parking was my main worry too! It's not actually a hospital, it's a building in a business estate (have a look on google streetview). I found it very easily with the help of satnav. My appointment was Sunday morning so all of the other businesses were closed and parking was not a problem. My appointment was 9.20 but as I arrived early they saw me at 9.05 and I was finished by 9.20. She told me the NT was 1.5 and explained that they are happy with anything under 3.5 being a good sign that things are ok. She also pointed out the nose bone, and something in the brain and in the baby's circulation which were also good signs. This was all very reassuring an definitely makes the wait for blood results easier. Hope this helps.
