Can anyone tell me anything about this? Not for me, but a friend who is 23 weeks and they found this at her 20w scan. No other abnormalities, the Downs screening came back very low. Just worried really, don't want to push her but would like to know more, if anyone can help? Thanks.

Hi! Not sure if you'll see this as you posted it a while back. I had my mid-term scan today 19weeks 1day, and the sonographer noted a 10mm calcification within the area of the liver. Was just wondering the outcome of your friend. I really would like to avoid Dr Google. Thankyou

@Noggin2912 hi - likewise you may not see this as your post was nearly 6 years ago. I wondered if you would mind telling me the outcome of your situation please? A scan has showed up liver calcifications in my (now 7 week old) baby (however they were first spotted on an ultrasound scan when I was pregnant). Many thanks

@stephi81 hi 😊
So when I was pregnant, and they had found the liver calcification, I had monthly scans to check for growth/reduction, it ended up measuring 18mm at its most, but had varying sizes. Me and my partner had a blood test to check for the chance of cystic fibrosis, which came back as something like 1 in 2000 chance. Towards the end of my pregnancy it was discovered that the calcification was on my daughters umbilical artery and was kept under consultant led care. Within hours of a normal birth, she had an ultrasound to see what it was and it had gone. They were very confused but obviously very pleased. She had another scan at 6 weeks with still no sign of it and she was very healthy, so was effectively signed off. She has been a very healthy child since. The only thing that she has had medically wrong with her since birth is at 1yr she was diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip which is, assured by her orthopaedic consultant, completely unrelated! I hope you have some answers soon, and you’re loving being a new mummy 😊

Hi my daughter has the same please could you provide an update.

Hi @Amylouxxxxxxxxx . By way of an update for my little girl - we had a few months of having to have scans and check-ups for her, but the scans found that there were no further calcifications and we were eventually discharged. She's generally a very healthy little girl, full of sass and currently tucking into a big bowl of pasta opposite me lol. It was a very worrying time and made my pregnancy with her very fraught, but she is fine. I really hope you're little one will be too. Sometimes these things seem to go away once they start to develop. How old is your little one?

Also @Noggin2912 very sorry I never replied to your message above!! I was probably deep in nappies and breastfeeding at the time and thought I had. But thank you - it was very reassuring to read when I was very worried. Hope you're doing well xx

@OhFFSMum &@Amylouxxxxxxxxx Hi 👋
My little girl is not so little anymore (9 😮) and is a happy, healthy, sassy little tweenager. We had no more interventions after the scan at 6 weeks and have never had need to investigate further.
@OhFFSMum dont worry about it, I get it! Hope you’re enjoying your motherhood journey, however bumpy it may be at times!
@Amylouxxxxxxxxx I hope you get some answers soon, and your mind is put at ease 💚
