Accessing Abortion after bad result

It is 99% certain that the baby I am carrying has a chromosomal abnormality. I am having a CVS next week to confirm. As I have had my scans/bloods done privately and the CVS will be done this way also I don't know how to access an abortion. Should I go through my gp to get the ball rolling even though I have not the CVS yet? I am already 14 weeks and an Internet search shows that there are no local clinics offering an abortion at this stage. Will I be able to go to the local hospital?

I had my CVS privately but the consultant contacted my local hospital who then arranged my termination. If yours can't do that your midwife should be able to help. Mine got arranged very fast, I was over 15 weeks.

Hello I'm new to mumsnet but a friend recommended it to me. I'm writing because I don't know what to do anymore and I feel like a broken record with my partner, family and friends.
This is my first pregnancy and I'm 34, it was a total surprise (getting pregnant) but a very very happy one. I tried withy ex for quite a few years with no success. Anyway I am now 14 weeks. I had a cvs scan yesterday after three scans showed firstly a NT of 6.2 and then yesterday fluid under babies skull. I had a weeks wait between finding this out and yesterday before cvs. I should get the results early next week. I'm terrified, I nearly convinced myself that the midwife made a mistake last week and my mind would be put at ease. If hope and love would be enough then my baby will be ok but the feeling of bad news is almost to much. My partner is also very upset, he has been quite honest and said that he does not want a disabled baby. We were so happy about being pregnant and out parents and friends. I foolishly let people know too soon and now j feel like it's just going to be bad news. I feel very protective for my baby and terrified that I may have an impossible decision to make.

Gem34W, you might want to write your own tread to be able to get some answers/comments.

I had a NT measurement of around 4, did the cvs after the scan I did at the fetal medicine center showed that baby had water around neck and both lungs. Unfortunately cvs confirmed baby had turners syndrome and we terminated, as most babies don't survive pregnancy, especially in my case, that was seen as particularly severe. 3 years later, I'm again pregnant, 12 weeks today, did harmony test last week and will only announce to family and friends if everything is ok. Good luck to you, the odds are not good, but until you get the cvs results, there is always a chance everything will be fine.
