20 week scan poss renal issues

hi
just after some expierances or advice.
20 week scan showed a possible duplex kidney, an enlarged collecting area within the kidney and a large ish area within the abdomen which may or may not be the gall bladder.
the sonographer got a 2nd opinion and they reffered me to the prenatal diagnostic team for a fetal renal scan at 32 weeks.
in the meantime a consultant will review the scan and decide whether an immediate refferal is needed.
what does this all mean?? i appreciate sonographers only take the measurements but they wouldnt allude to what these potential issues could be.
did have a quick Google and nothing seemed overly serious but i was in there for over 2hours and had a few different people come and go which has natuarlly worried me!

Hi Feekerry -

I had a similar "renal issue" scan when I was pregnant - not the same as yours but was also a bit panicked. Duplex basically means that there is a second kidney on one side which is just something they are going to keep an eye on. There is very little that the dr will do, other than check your scans regularly - in my case, they wanted to make sure that, after the baby was born, around 3 months I think, the baby had another scan because the one thing they want to watch for is urinary reflux (where the urine goes back up toward the kidney) this can cause kidney infections and, if left unchecked, could cause kidney scarring which is not ideal. So, it's possibly better that they are watching it now and so don't worry!
Also, I am not a dr so please don't take this post as medical information - it's just what happened on my end.

no i am no doctor either but its so hard to tell whether its a serious issue or not. its so horrible as i could instantly tell something was up as she was constantly re measuring x
