Midwife problems

I'm 37.5 weeks and I've seen four different midwives.
'My' midwife didn't show up for an appointment and since then ive struggled to contact her and I'm told she's fully booked when I try to make an appointment, frustrating!

I'm now seeing yet another midwife next week being passed between two local hospitals and my GP depending on who is available. It concerns me as each midwife has measured me differently and last weeks midwife was alarmed that I hadn't been sent for a growth scan, needless to say this worried me but I'm told everything is ok. I can't he but think if I'd not been passed around then perhaps me and my baby would be given more attention rather than rushed antenatal checks... Rant over!

Has anybody else had a similar experience?
I'm getting anxious about labour and I'm still unsure which hospital I'm supposed to be going to!

If its affordable I'd like to private can anyone make any recommendations of whats available in the Preston area?

Thanks everyone

Had a v similar experience with DS1 - for most ante natal appts I saw a community mw who was attached to my GP's surgery and she was pretty rubbish (asking me quite seriously if I was 'sure it wasn't twins' at 31 weeks despite having been the one to see me throughout whole pregnancy!). She was also away for a month while her daughter was getting married so not avail for appts or to be contacted.

DS was delivered in a local hospital by mws I had never met and I didn't have the most positivebirth experience and I do feel that that was caused, at least in part, by a lack of joined up care and important things falling between the cracks because, esp if you are a first time mum, it is difficult to be an effective advocate for yourself.

That being said, I always knew which hospital I'd be going to and I'd had an active birth workshop & tour of delivery suites. It is disappointing you have been left in the dark over these basic details and at 37 weeks I think you are well within your rights to push for a few more details, to ask for a tour, to have someone look over your birth plan with you. Good luck with it all!
