Couldn't get a good enough view apparently (Fetal Heart Scan)

So I had my 20 week scan 2 weeks ago and everything went swimmingly except the consultant could get the right views of the heart he needed to see, so he told us to come back in 2 weeks which we did (this morning).

Again he couldn't get a good enough view. Now he has told us not to worry and this is simply routine but he;s referring us to St George's to have a Fetal Heart Scan this week as they have better equipment. He said the fact that I carry a bit of weight on my tummy could very well be restricting the view.

how am I not meant to worry? Has anyone else had this before?

I also have an anterior placenta so could that be getting in the way too.

I'm getting myself into a bit of a tizz over this I know but I just need some reasurrance really. Anyone?

Had exactly the same. Please try not to worry. They said they can't see, that isn't the same as a problem. My baby was curled in a ball, no way to see the heart properly. We went back a few days later and she had unfurled. A clear view was possible, there was nothing special to see.

Fetal heart scans are much more clear and detailed. It sounds as though its just a bad view if the docs suspected anything they would say it outright. At least if you have a full scan you can put your mind at rest as most defects aren't picked up till after birth because the usual twenty week scans don't show blood flow or the heart in much detail. Try not to worry its sounds like just procedures. FWIW my 20 weeks scan was fine, I had a scan a week later for another part they couldn't see and they picked up some swollen ventricles. it turns out in a more detailed full body scan my son did have heart defects. bloody fluke it was picked up.
