Understanding cvs results?

Hello, I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help me understand my results? I'm 26 years old and am already a mother to my beautiful 4 year old son. I had such an easy pregnancy and no complications. I recently found out I was expecting again, my partner and I are thrilled. I had the combined blood test, along with the dating scan. Everything seemed ok with neck measurements coming back 2.5-2.7. I revived my results back and was told I had 1:15 chance of having a baby with downs. I went for my cvs and got my results the very next day. They were all clear. What i want to know is does anyone know the reason that my hormone levels came back so high/low? My Hvg was almost 6 and another was meant to be 1 but came back 0.5. Does this still mean there could be something wrong with my baby? I'm currently 16 weeks an have booked a private scan for this coming Friday. I just want to understand if this means other problems as the 3 chromosome tests came back negative. Has anyone else had the same and did your babies have any problems? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this essay :)

Hi there - the cvs results are diagnostic so 100% (or near enough) accurate for the conditions that it checks for.

I do understand your concern though with the blood results and nt test result. Your results sound similar to mine. I was (if I recall without getting my notes out) nt 3, hcg 6.2, Pap A 0.8. Hcg and pap a are measured as MoM which stands for Multiple of the Mean ie how much your result is different to the average. I was given a 1:4 risk.

I got an all clear from an amnio but before that I googled myself silly over the hcg to see what might have caused it and what the consequences might be beyond chromosomal abnormality. I asked directly following the amnio result and got told that there was nothing to worry about. The web is littered with tales of women who had similar results, then a diagnostic all clear, then normal babies. I think we need to relax and accept that in a normal distribution some women will be at the extreme ends of the scores.

Thank you lozster, your feedback has put my mind at ease. The dr had told me not to worry but it's hard not to. I keep comparing my pregnancys so I think that's also making my mind work over time.
