Oaks clinic Loughton - anyone had experience for nuchal scan?

I cannot get my 12 week/ nuchal until I am 14 weeks so having to go private. Has anyone had experience of the Oaks clinic Loughton?

Hello, I don't have experience of that clinic but I'm surprised if anyone can do a nuchal scan at 14 weeks. I thought 13 weeks 6 days was the cut-off for a nuchal scan, after which the nuchal fold measurement is no longer a useful indicator. (i came just within the cut off as i was dated at 13 weeks 5 days at my nuchal scan). Is there nowhere you can have it done sooner? What does your doctor / midwife say about the timing of the nuchal scan?

Ah, just re-read - you're going private in order to get the scan within 13 weeks 6 days aren't you? In which case disregard everything I said as entirely irrelevant!! Sorry about that.

Re the clinics, if you're near Loughton why not come into central London to the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street? They pretty much invented the nuchal scan so are the pioneers and their operators are very experienced. I didn't have my nuchal scan there but I did have it at Kings (on the NHS) which uses the same sonographers as the FMC.

Thanks for the advice and was about to book an appointment at FMC but on Friday I kicked up a bit of a fuss and got my NHS appointment exactly on 12 weeks, relief and money saved

Oh that's good. Nb I thought I was 12 weeks when I went for mine (having had 3 early scans!) but I turned out to be 13+5, so only just made the cut-off for the nuchal scan!
