Expecting Daughter number 2 - diagnosed with CDH

Hello
Currently 23 weeks and I'm expecting my 2nd daughter and she has been diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. I am being looked after by my local hospital and Liverpool Womans and Alder Hey. We know we are only given a 50% survival chance on her getting through the first few weeks after birth - but have been told her heart looks normal and only stomach and a bit of bowel has travelled up into the chest cavity. I am approaching this with the most positivity I can but I wondered if there was any other Mums out there trying to get through this or have got through this....Confused

Hi BB, my 15mo dd was born v small and with cdh. Unlike you her condition hadn't been picked up by scans, so it was a shock to say the least! But medical teams were fab, and will be even better in your case as they will be prepared. I won't lie, it was a horrendous time, she had a six hour op to repair hernia and put everything back in the right place when she was just two days old. Her bowel and liver had gone through into her chest and her heart had also been displaced. But we got through all that and she is fine now.

Hope all goes well. Any questions just ask
Xx

Hi BBYummyMummy,

I don't know if you are still around? I just wanted to let you know that my son was born in May this year with a left-sided CDH and that he has survived (18 weeks today) and that I would be happy to tell our story or answer any questions if you need someone?

hope everythings is well for you x
