My baby has just been diagnosed with this at 20 wk scan and I would love to hear from anyone else who has been through this. We are shattered at the moment and in total shock. Just need some support please.

I am so sorry you are going through such a worrying time Clarabell have the doctors spoken to you about the future? Explained things? As I understand it, the prognosis for babies with this type of heart defect is very good indeed nowadays and many, many go on to live normal lives...of course it is easy for me to sit her and say that...I just wanted to know if you understand the condition fully?

Hi Mary, thanks so much for your reply. We have had so much info to take in today it is confusing! Although I have gathered that the prognosis is good in the short term we were advised that treatment is only 'palliative' and that eventually a transplant will be required which may or may not work. The baby will require 3 surgeries before school age but these are not a permanent cure for the problem.

Do you have any experience of the condition?
