30+5 weeks and had a scan

Hi I had to have a follow up scan due to baby's heart and when I saw the preg notes I was shocked by the size of baby's head.
FL- 56mm HC-289mm AC-250mm @30+5 weeks.
Would u lovely ladies like to share ur baby measurements if u don't mind and to put my mind at ease

I can't remember specifics but they kept going on and on about my baby's abdomen being abnormally large to head ratio. Many extra scans required They kept scanning and commenting then eventually said " she must just be going to have a big belly" I worried all the way through and when she was born - perfectly normal!!

What centile are your measurements on? They seem fine to me. Mine were:

29+0 w: FL 54.9 mm, HC 274.3 mm, AC 252 mm

33+1 w: FL 62.3 mm, HC 314.6 mm, AC 297.5 mm

HC at birth was 360 mm

Rachel, just checking on your baby, how are things ? I can't help because I have not got any experience but can understand your worries. Hope all is good.

I couldn't tell you direct measurements but my DS is on the 52nd centile for everything but his head which is on the 99th! It was fine!

Aagh, pressed send too soon!

They measured his head every 3 days for the first month for suspected hydrocephalus but discovered nothing; he just has a massive head!

Both my DSs have large heads. With DS1, he had to have his head measured every week for 3 months after he was born as they were so concerned that it was large compared to his body (95th centile head) due to concerns over hydrocephalus. That was all a nonsense, he just has a big head.

With DS2, his head was top centile at the 32w scan compared to his other, average measurements. I didn't bat an eyelid as that's how I seem to produce babies, and they didn't even comment.

Both boys are fine. They do have big heads, but you wouldn't know it to look at them! Oh, and they are both very bright, must need the extra room for all their brains! :o

big heads here as well, ds4 was 10lb 13oz and his head circumference was off the chart it was 41 or 42cm! cant remember which, birth was fine tho very quick and he was born in a pool, no tearing :) they all have to wear big hats etc tho, the ones for their age never fit, i blame it on dp who also has a big head and needs the largest size motor bike helmet!
