how long does mc risk last after amnio

I am 45 and have just had clear resulats from the preliminary tests after amnio 24hours ago. Am now on tenderhooks aboutanything kicking off. I feel fine, but just wondered how long the risk persists, days, weeks, the rest of the pregnancy?

Hi montysma 1. I'm in a similar position, I had mine on Tues at 16 weeks and preliminary tests came back clear for chromosomes 13, 18 and 21 (12-week scan showed megacystis (enlarged bladder), which has since resolved, thank God!). I had total bed rest Tues and Weds and was told it's ok to go back to normal now. Was your procedure completely uncomplicated? Mine was. I've heard it takes 6 weeks to be completely sure, hopefully we will be ok. Would be good to have some more opinions.

Hi there. Yes it was fairly uncomplicated, the placenta is at the front, so they had to have a think about where to go in. They had to go quite near the placenta, but managed not to nick it, although apparently it wouldnt have been a disaster if they had. I was just told to take it easy yesterday which i tried to do, but not so easy with twins in the house! they didnt mention bed rest or anything.

I have just tranfered worrying about results onto worrying about every twinge i think.

When i had CVS was told to just carry on as normal, no rest or anything.Was also told that as long as baby has heartbeat straight after procedure then miscarriage is virtually nil.I was told this by Prof Nicholaides at the FMC.
I am not sure if the info is the same for amnio but believe it is.

Would love to hear any answers - am currently sat at home doing nothing following yesterday. Have heard (but nothing definitive) that the first 24hrs are the critical ones.......

I was told 2 weeks, but who knows? I also did 48 hrs bedrest, rather than 24 hrs take it easy.
