At work yesterday pm and got a call saying blood rests had come back with high risk of downs. Asked me when i could get there next day and have booked a constant appt also.

Risk is 1:15. I am 19 weeks tomorrow but was too far gone by the time of my scan for the combined result.

Just looking for some advice re what's gonna happen when I get there really

cant believe I hadn't noticed this section before!

Tia

I was at 12 weeks when I had a high risk and they offered me a detailed scan then cvs. i opted for cvs more immediately as I wanted an absolute answer. i think they might offer you a scan so they can look for soft markers and then maybe an amnio.

LoveBeingAbleToNamechange · 13/04/2011 13:11

Having the amnio at 2pm so fingers crossed for me, paying to get the results quicker via the FISH test so hopefully well know tomorrow.

ok. haven't had amnio but had cvs as said before. I think the process is pretty much the same but obviously the cells come from a different place. they do a scan so they can check where the needle comes in I found that upsetting so they turned it towards them. Good luck for tomorrow.

So had my amnio this afternnon and dh had to drive it quick stick to the lab as there was only 20 mins left to be able to get the results tomorrow.

So a long night and day ahead, but not where near as bad as two weeks.

It's normal not getting much sleep isn't it? It's gonna be such a long day.

Totally normal! Keep those feet up, relax as much as you can, let mum make you some decaffeinated tea. Watch a film you love, that'll eat up 2 hours. Take a long bath, another hour.

I'm sending you huge hugs and wishing you lots of luck; let us know when/if you can. Sparkly good vibes coming your way! xxx

LoveBeingAbleToNamechange · 14/04/2011 10:28

Thanks cinna. Feet are up and mum and dd are making me breakfast, not sure how I'll eat it though! Mums been great and insisted on having the monitor last night again as dd has been waking in the night.
