anyone have a happy tale after losing a baby to chromosome disorder

Very recently I lost a baby who had been diagnosed with Downs and severe heart problems. He went at 15 weeks. I have been given a 1 in 100 chance of having another child with DS and I would love to hear any happy stories from ladies who have had similar diagnosis and who have gone on to have a normal pregnancy. I am so upset at the moment that I need to hear something positive! many thanks xx

Hi and very sorry for your loss. I lost my 3rd baby to a rare chomosome disorder. I was only in my 20s. I went on to have healthy twins less than a year after and then another healthy baby a few years after them (in my 30s by then). I lost another baby late in pregnancy but that was due to something else and not genetic at all. I also had another early miscarriage. But I have blood clotting antibodies, 2 immune problems and weak cervix so if I can go on to have healthy babies and now have 5 healthy DC, I hope that can give you hope!

Forgot to add that i was given a 50% risk of late loss (from 16 weeks all the way to term) with each pregnancy so I was so very scared.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, it is a heartbreaking time and it means future pregnancies are both nervewracking and poignant - but it doesn't mean you'll get the same outcome again. True, it CAN happen, but more often it doesn't. I lost a baby at 15wks to Patau's syndrome, then fell pregnant again shortly after and my beautiful daughter was born last summer. Early scans are scary but reassuring at the same time. If you do get pregnant there's lots of support on this thread from others who'll understand...

I'm sorry for your loss. 18mths ago I lost my DS2 at 22 weeks due to Downs. Next week I am to be induced with my DD2.

I too was told be my consultant that my risk of another baby with Downs was 1/100 and this pregnancy has been terrifying, not least because at 9 weeks the baby had a NT of 3.4. I have been tested and scanned and as far as anyone can possibly know we will be welcoming our healthy DD2 home next week.

It has been a rollercoaster so I can't really claim a "normal" pregnancy but we seem to have survived it. Best wishes.

I am so sorry for your loss, i lost a daughter to a rare chromosome disorder and an equally rare heart condition at 26 weeks.I went on to have a healthy son 16 months later.I was very scared of losing another baby but the medical team looked after me really well and I had lots of tests and scans throughout my pregnancy which helped to put my mind at rest. I hope my experience goes a little way to give you hope for the future.
