Hello, new to mums net - first baby is nearly 3 month 2 weeks. I’ve been referred to the postnatal mental health team as I’m feeling very anxious and very angry. The practitioner who came to see me thought I may also be neurodiverse for various reasons but mainly becuse of sensory issues. I also had a traumatic birth and feel like I haven’t bonded with her properly. Anyway..she called today and said the team have decided an OT is the best way forward…I feel dissapointed as I feel like I was looking forward to talking therapy/councelling especially as the last week I’ve been feeling so down (I’ve been wanting to reach out for help for years and was excited to be given the opportunity to finally start). But also tbh I don’t really know what an OT does in regards to mental health? she did tell me but baby was feeding and pooing and I didn’t take it in…can somone enlighten me? Had anyone had experience with an OT and mental health? Thanks. Xx
