Hi,
I am 33 years old with traumatic forceps delivery. I have only 1 child. After my delivery I had lost complete bladder control. Over time I have regained back the bladder control but still experience incontinence everyday. I am.tired of this and wanting to hear some successful stories of people who have experienced this and how have you got cured. Any surgery/non surgery success stories please.

So sorry that you've been through this @Lishhhh and that you haven't had any replies.

If you still don't have any replies today, I'd ask in the Chat section as that's much busier than the one Flowers

have you been assessed by a womens health ohysio?

get onto gussiegrips on Twitter or insta, she used to be on here and does reminders for doing your exercises. Very funny and knows her stuff, think she’s a senior specialist

mine got better just by following her reminders t Christmas. Good luck k

How long ago was this? Are you breastfeeding as the hormones mean things take longer to tighten up. I took about 8-10 months to stop leaking and I was terrible with my exercises but it just happened eventually

Lishhhh · 19/06/2022 12:18

@Yohohaha no I stopped breastfeeding when my baby was 2 months old...now I am 13 months post partum.. how much was your leaking? So u don't leak at all now?

I had very bad leaking after both births (it didn’t improve between pregnancies). I have been seeing a private Women’s Health
physio and I have improved dramatically. Have been doing the exercises she suggests every day.

I still have some small leaks and wear a thin Tena pantyliner. The physio also asked my GP to prescribe a contiform device which you wear like a mooncup and helps support the bladder.

Lishhhh · 19/06/2022 15:32

@Tibtab that is really good to hear..glad u improved...I have not been regular with my kegels...I need to do them on a regular basis. I use contiform pessary when I go out..the contiform helps. But it's just that though of being normal again..to not leak and not worry.

My leaking wasn't too bad, not as bad as yours from the sound of it. I don't leak at all now (other than when I jogged a few steps with a very full bladder). In the first few weeks it was quite a bit but then after that it was mainly after I finished weeing and stood up that more would come out. It was like my urethra opening valve muscle was damaged. And I know they say don't squeeze whilst urinating as it can cause a UTI, but I found that more useful to exercise as the 'squeeze your bum and then internal lift' action didn't seem to feel like it was squeezing at the front where I had my issue. So I practiced both. But not as often as I should. Losing all my baby weight also contributed to it all stopping I think.

I use the squeezy app, I found that I wasn’t doing them effectively though. I saw a physio and she said I wasn’t squeezing effectively. I built up from 2 second holds and now can do 8-10. Plus my pelvic floor is starting to activate when I cough. It’s slow progress, I’m 7 months PP and it’s getting better but not at the stage when I wouldn’t wear a pad.

Well you can’t skip the kegels. Get an app to remind you.
