Lustral / Sertraline Side Effects

I am just looking for some reassurance really.. I was prescribed 50mg of Lustral, and was recommended to take half a tablet - 25mg for a week and then up to the full 50mg after this.
I started taking the 25mg on Friday morning (so 4 doses so far) and the side effects are fairly bad...

  • Nauseas
  • Zero Appetite
  • Teeth/Jaw Clenching
  • Anxiety

Does anyone have any experience of this, and how long it took to pass?
At the moment, the side effects are not any worse than how I have been feeling, but at the same time I don't want to feel these symptoms for the whole duration of me taking them.

Thank you! x

Sentraline was a god send for me. Initial side effects for me were sweating alot at night, and anxiety heightened ALOT until levelling out. I recommend continuing for at-least two weeks. If you feel it gets really bad and nothing improves then try an alternative. Most antidepressants take full effect from 4-6weeks.

How you getting on @AGB10 ? They are all common side effects to be honest. Sertraline was also a god send for me and unfortunately I'm back on it due to lots of circumstantial stress. Give it a few weeks x

Thank you both for replying!
The side effects have definitely worn off which is great. I still find myself subconsciously clencing my teeth together though?!
I am due to up the dose tomorrow to 50mg so hoping the side effects don't return!

I feel like it is already making a small difference, so I am feeling positive taking them xx

@AGB10 that's great to hear that they have started to wear off. I was diagnosed with Postpartum Depression today so will be starting Sertraline again tomorrow unfortunately. But I'm optimistic it helps as it did last year. Once you start the 50mg I think you will really feel a positive difference! Good luck!
