I believe the NHS offers online CBT as first call for many adult mental health issues - will I be able to access therapy/counseling via my GP as I would much prefer to speak to someone?....I have 'fought' doing something about it since by baby was born 19 months ago....so silly I know. I just hoped it would go away and I generally I am okay 70% of the time and then it creeps up and I get so anxious and low. Secondly, my LG adores breastfeeding and is showing no sign of self-weaning (and gets hysterical if boob demands are not met!) but I know it does affect your hormones - has anybody felt mentally a bit more sane since giving up bfeeding?

You can definitely get referred for counselling via your gp. Sorry your suffering with PND it might be worth considering anti depressants but maybe try therapy first. At least you have recognised you need help which is a hard thing to do so well done! Don't be hard on yourself it sounds like your doing a great job Flowers

You can self refer. Look it up online, I saw my gp and she gave me the leaflets and said it's a self referral process. They call you and you do a telephone assessment and questionnaire and then organise the sessions. Good luck I hope you get it sorted
