High bp

Hi I'm pregnant with my second baby, I really struggled with high bp with my first which never turned into preeclampsia. I've got to 28 weeks in this pregnancy and my bp has got really high again and I've been given medication for it. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? If they went to term? And how the medication (labetalol) effected them and the baby? As I've had some nasty side effects so far 😩

Not exactly the same as I was already on labetalol for existing slightly high bp. I found side effects went after a few weeks. I did get pre-eclampsia towards the end of my pregnancy so my meds were upped a lot. Towards the end (when meds were high) I had to go in for twice weekly monitoring. It didn't affect my pregnancy or birth (planned section due to breech) other than extra monitoring. So I was lucky, but it shows it can sometimes not be awful.

Thanks for your reply. I'm monitored twice weekly also, they seem really worried about preeclampsia. I'm also having a planned section as the birth went so wrong with my bp last time. Good to know if didn't effect you too much 😀
