Have you had physical aches and pains associated with your PND?

Hi ladies, I've been diagnosed with pnd and have a question about whether any of you have experienced a physical side of it. I've been having bad headaches all around my head, black spots in my vision on the left side, fatigue, left arm pain, tingling in fingers and chest pain. The headaches are the most consistent and i do have a neurological referral which hasn't come through yet but I have been checked out a couple of times for heart and other problems but seem to be fine -But i'm convinced I have an undiagnosed serious health problem. It's more than the usual aches and pains of sleep deprivation and breastfeeding. Every night i kiss my kids goodnight and think i may not see them again if i die in the night. Is it the pnd do you think making me fee this way? I have three kids ages 6, 2 and 3 months by the way and am 38. I'm not on any anti d's. Thanks in advance for any comments.

I have suffered with aches as part of depression/anxiety but not like you descibe. I just feel all over achey and exhausted when I am really struggling. It could be pnd making it worse or at least making the anxiety worse. I think you should probably go back to the gp and explain how scared you are, it's no good if you worry every night that you might not make it until morning. Would you consider medication if the GP recommended it?

Reading over my earlier post i can't believe it was me who wrote it! -only last night!
I feel ok this morning so far and had a good nights sleep and am going to try to look after myself and eat well etc now that the christmas chaos has passed. I think I will need to go down the anti -d route if this continues. i have a meet with my health visitor coming up next week so will see how I go till then.

Louiselove...YES. I feel exactly like this with PND at my worst. You really convince yourself that all these 'niggles' add up to terminal serious illness. It's horrible. Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.

My pnd was the worst physical pain I've ever been in, apart from the actual birth. I was in agony, with horrible tingles, spasms and a filthy 'poison' feeling under my skin. Very hard to put into words. I thought it would kill me.

It mostly went away when the ad's kicked in.

It's bizarre. One day I felt like I was being physically pushed downwards?!?! I was petrified. I just couldn't understand it and still don't really.

I suppose the moral us I've had every bizarre symptom and aches and pains since PND. Awful.

I had (and still sometimes get) an uncomfortable, cold, tingling sensation across my shoulders and the back of my neck. The 'filthy poison' description Morris gave above, is spot on. Anti-depressants really help to minimize it, as does exercise and proper sleep. Unfortunately, these things are hard to come by when you've got three little ones (mine have a similar age gap to yours, OP). My kids are all school-aged now so I'm able to do the things I need to do to feel good but I still get the feeling if I've had a night of poor sleep. You should definitely try to see your GP, though. The symptoms could be anxiety or depression related OR something physical. Hope you feel better soon, Lovey . It does get much easier as they get older .

It think the whole thing with PND is a personally fitted package to make you feel like absolute shit. That's what I'm coming to realise.

Thanks for your responses, it's good to know I'm not the only one feeling this aspect of pnd -that helps enormously actually. The 'filthy poison' description Morris is exactly right, I feel like my whole body is affected and almost dirty?! I've realised that it's essential to look after myself so have been trying to factor in short bursts of me time and good nutrition as i think there's definately a link with how I feel and blood sugar levels -especially since I'm breastfeeding a hungry chunky boy. I had an hours stretching session this morning with a dance teacher friend of mine and it felt amazing. I still haven't had the neurology appointment through but have an opticians appointment in the morning to check out the black spot in one eye. I'll keep you posted on my progress and wish you all good health and joy x
