I am a mum to 3 boys aged 7,2,5 months but I feel like pulling my hair out I yell at the older 2 & have constant arguments with oh, when I took my youngest for his 4 week check my hv said that I was showing signs of pnd but didn't need medication but I am afraid it has got worst can anyone tell me if these are the signs & if I should see someone

It sounds to me like you are showing signs of too much and not enough help. Maybe you have pnd i dont know - but you could put some things in place that would calm you down enough to know. Talk to your husband very plainly and pleasantly and say you arent coping. Maybe you could work out a rota, a system, some rules as a house that you can all follow so you are not overwhelmed by it all. You could go see someone too, as at least you may get some advice and you will be doing something for yourself. I'm not surprised with 3 boys to look after - i was like you with just one. keep perservering and keep looking for ways to help youirself. If mum is coping then the rest of the family follow along better. I hope this helps, only just joined this today... Take care

You can take St John Wort available at Holland and Barrett, check with staff there as I think some prescription medecines you cannot take it with. Its the most prescribed anti depressant in Germany but its natural and not addictive. I wish I had taken it after DS, just for first few months. I think all mums are a bit depressed after the birth of a child , its a change and a trauma all in one !

I have just read a great Q&A session with a parent infant psychotherapist who talks about what post-natal depression actually is and how you know if you've got it. The interview is on the Anna Freud Centre website. They also offer services to new mums, so is worth contacting them. the link is below.

I hope this helps and I hope your situation gets better
