well, unless you explain, we won't be able to vote, will we.

Unless something isn't displayed correctly, I'm not sure what you mean.
Can you not see my post with a link to a news article?

I think it's a bit of an over reaction personally, but does it really matter which vets you take them to? If you're unhappy, just move vets. Surely you and your DH won't argue over something so trivial?

yes there is a link, but not only can I NOT click on links, but I wouldn't even if I could

Strugglingtodomybest · 06/09/2023 08:14

To save anybody having to click on the daily mail link, the problem was that the lady found the word fucker written on her cat's cage.

well, does that impact on the cats care? Is it a warning to other staff? Would have been more diplomatic to write "biter" or something, probably, but it could be malicious or affectionate, no way of knowing.

Gnomegnomegnome · 06/09/2023 08:17

Thanks @Strugglingtodomybest . @housingcris1s I don’t open daily mail links.

My cat had a warning on the system. He was antisocial.

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/09/2023 08:17

You and the person in the article are over reacting. Someone at a vet's wrote a rude word, there is no evidence it was aimed at the cat and if it was (violent cat maybe - an ill judged warning to be careful) the cat can't read.

Go to whichever vet you want. There is usually a choice.

Gnomegnomegnome · 06/09/2023 08:17

Cats can’t read

Testina · 06/09/2023 08:18

If you can’t even be arsed to write a one line summary, it’s a bit cheeky to expect people to be arsed to reply.

Exactly. It's a bit of a non story that the DM have taken from a Facebook post.

I have to say, if my beloved pet had just died/was seriously ill enough to have to stay in the vet's, it's the last thing I'd be concerned about.

But, if it did bother me, I'd just change vets. No need for all the drama.

Silverdogblue · 06/09/2023 08:21

Crikey, when our dog was v v ill, the vet asked about nicknames so they could make him feel comfortable when they read to him at night. The nicknames were so rude I couldn’t tell her. All highly affectionate! But profane all the same.

😂

They forgot to put the first name. Fiesty Fucker.

No OP, it wouldn't bother me. I know how cats are. Mine was called the demon cat. She was actually the sweetest thing, unless you had a needle in your hand.

BirdiePlantaganet · 06/09/2023 08:24

It doesn’t mean the cat wasn’t cared for.

Is it any different from derogatory medical slang or argot for patients? To me, it’s just gallows humour and I’d laugh it off.

BasicPumpkinSpice · 06/09/2023 08:25

Cats are fuckers 🤷🏻‍♀️ HTH

It's a pet not a person, I couldn't get all worked up about this. If it bothers you change vets. Who cares?

BellaAndDave · 06/09/2023 08:26

It would be very apt for my cat, he is a fucker.

Just explain the problem without us having to click a link to that rag

Flopsythebunny · 06/09/2023 08:29

Stop being a bloody drama queen.

MinnieTruck · 06/09/2023 08:33

Fucker😂 that’s actually quite funny. Maybe the cat is a scratcher/biter

Redbrickrebel · 06/09/2023 08:35

Well first of all you are unreasonable to linking to a known hate rag that makes up stories for clickbate.

Second, Vets are not like Doctors, they are businesses and far too many are there to make money first and care for animals as a secondary issue. We shouldn't be surprised at callous behaviour from them.

OK Sarah Bernhardt

tsmainsqueeze · 06/09/2023 08:36

I work at a vets , not one member of my team's care ,kindness and compassion is ever compromised when dealing with a 'less compliant' patient .
But the air does sometimes turn blue when dealing with a creature that wants to rip your face off.
It's just a word, yes it's unprofessional and i imagine the whole team is mortified by it , the writer worst of all.
It is really unfair to condemn the whole practice for one mistake that has no bearing on the patient or the whole clientele, i bet they do a hell of a lot of healing and fixing with the same amount of compassion found in the vast majority of vet practices everywhere.

rosesinmygarden · 06/09/2023 08:38

I can see why the owner was upset in the moment. Ideally, it should have been removed before the owner came to visit.

If it had been me I'd have laughed as I can quite imagine my cat being called that! He randomly bites everyone for no reason, always has done.

However (as someone who works in an industry where you really do need a sense of humour) I doubt this was done maliciously or that it indicates the standard of care the animals received.
