To ask what this is? Is this a tick ?

Just taken the dog for a walk and spotted a small lump on my thumb .

It started off slightly painful and I thought something was stuck to it. Tried to brush it off and it looks more like it is under the skin.

Does it look like a tic to anyone more knowledgeable than me?

Going to check the dog over as well.

It doesn't look like a tick. A blood blister, maybe?

It’s not a tick. You can see that it has your finger print on the top of it so it’s your own skin. It looks like a blood blister.

Blood blister. Have you pinched it in anything?

PragmaticWench · 26/07/2023 06:06

Looks like a blood blister.

I felt something odd and thought it was a tiny slug or something. So tried to brush it off. It doesn't move.

It is throbbing and it feels like it is stuck on but also appears under the skin at the same time.

I am in a rural location which has a tic warning so think I panicked. Didn't feel anything happen just an ouch feeling and glanced at my thumb and tried to brush it off and it didn't move.

Thanks for the replies.

It's 'tick'. A 'tic' is something entirely different. You've got a blood blister, but if you've had a tick warning make sure you tuck your trousers into your socks and don't wear shorts if you're walking through long grass. A tick remover for the dog is a good idea too and get some tick and flea treatment from the vets. Ticks are something that really make me shudder tbh and you dont feel them attach themselves.

Just retraced my steps and remembered I tried to close the front door silently by pushing the locking mechanism in with my thumb.

Hence blood blister.

Had completely forgotten I'd done that in the imaginary tick panic.

Thanks again.
