My son has gained a place at grammar school, I had to appeal as he has a couple of SEN which meant he should have had certain arrangements on the day of the 11+ test. These arrangements failed on the day which meant my son had his conditions triggered. At the appeal the school agreed and stated that my son did exeptionally well and was clearly of grammar school ability, the school also admitted that they failed on the day to ensure that his needs were met.

So why are two parents at his school being incredibly bitchy and insinuating he shouldnt have got in?

Oh, just to add, one of whom had said "well done" to me previously..

Did their children not get in by any chance?

booyhoo · 09/07/2010 23:06

jealousy? some people just dont like to see others doing well. especially if your son did aswell as their dcs despite not having his SEN arrangemnets on the day. in their minds it probably reads as your son is brighter than their dcs if he can get in even without the help he needed. ignore them. well done your son.

MsDav · 09/07/2010 23:07

That's the thing.. neither of them tried for the grammar school :S

Presumably due to ignorance MsDav. They probably don't understand the nature of the SEN and possibly doubt the legitimacy of the appeal/any appeals. Maybe jealousy also. Did their children succeed in gainig a place?
I hope it isn't spoiling your son's enjoyment and excitement for the future school.

Vallhala · 09/07/2010 23:07

Because they are insecure twats who are jealous that your son did so well DESPITE his SN.

Ignore the idiots and well done to your son.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 09/07/2010 23:07

Well done him. I really would question how they are going to support your son for 5+ years if they were unable to accomodate him for a day.

Ignore the other parents, there's an element of here.

separated · 09/07/2010 23:08

X posts. Sorry. It took me a long time to reply so I didn't know that their children hadn's sat the tests.

MsDav · 09/07/2010 23:13

Twas funny, they were bitching to the woman in their book club who had helped him for 6 months... she is a tutor for 11+ . Everyone else gets tutored for a year......

OP posts:
booyhoo · 09/07/2010 23:18

thats teh thing. they have NO idea. it is their ignorance of the situation that makes them unable to understand or empathise with you. they acnnot possibly share your joy because they have NO idea what it has taken for your son to gain this place.

iamamug · 09/07/2010 23:20

YANBU sod 'em

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 09/07/2010 23:21

tell the parents to piss off

Then ask the new school how they will accomodate your child.

MsDav · 09/07/2010 23:23

Thanks booyhoo... I think thats it, am just shocked tbh.

I know one of the mothersstalks me reads here as she told me " I know who you are on the eleven plus forum and I read mumsnet"

Sigh

I'm off to bed.. I feel a bit happier that I am not being U and I really hope that the mother who claims to know me on various forums gets a fucking clue.

Belle, the school will support and accomodate my son brilliantly - they have already been in contact re G+T ;)

They are ignorant twats. Well done to your ds to get in without access arrangements being in place - that's pretty impressive and shows that he is clearly very bright.

proudfoot · 09/07/2010 23:30

YANBU - just ignore them and their jealousy. Congrats to your ds
