For Tooth Fairy to leave IOU???

What to do?

DH has gone overseas until Friday with work so I can't leave the house. DD aged six has just called down to me that she has managed to pull out her wobbly tooth. I didn't even know it was very wobbly until I helped her brush her teeth at bedtime tonight. It has been a little bit wobbly for weeks.

I can't seem to find any £1 coins, and only seem to have 10p in change in wallet in coppers.

I can't go out as I am home alone. Do I leave her IOU? Or explain that tooth fairy couldn't come? Or leave £10 note and ask for change.

Is it her first tooth if so I am a soft touch and would give the ten saying it is because it is the first.

My sister lost a tooth and didn't tell my mum we managed to fob her off with the tooth fairy was to busy and will come tonight .

She got a money box you can raid and pay back when you have the money? Or perhaps get her to forget to put it under her pillow or something then do it tomorrow instead?

have you checked down the side of the sofa?

I would leave 10p and say the tooth fairy had run out of money but would bring the 90p tommorow.

You could cleverly combine it with maths homework thus killing two birds with one stone.

ps i love the fact that ds still believes in tooth fairy, also 6.Am sure it won't last much longer."Can you wake me up so i can see what she looks like when she comes?" he asked me when he lost his last tooth.I had to smile

Tell her the tooth fairy needs to be told before 7pm that the tooth has fallen out so she can't come until tomorrow.

I've been in this position too and drew a tooth fairy pound note which could be swapped with a grown up for a real pound coin later on. I'm not at all artistic but did lots of stars and used her gel pens so it was quite colourful. She was quite happy

Bloody hell Slushy are you Bill Gates in disguise?

Tooth fairy rates a pound here too!

MumNWLondon · 07/07/2010 21:24

Not first tooth. Gave £2 for first and £1 thereafter. She knows the tooth fairy is me or DH but will be sad if no money. Am thinking of leaving a present, I have some in stock. Only think is she is a hoarder, insists toothfairy does not take teeth and she has a box for previous teeth and previous £1 coins....

Her money is in her wallet (and tooth box) and carefully counted. Will try DS's money box but am sure only coppers, not hopeful...

Actually we are fairly low wages but I would do it for a first tooth if I had no other money, but I really am a soft touch I give my dc money I don't have

Panic over, have found a charity box that has been sitting around for a while. Extracted £1 coin and will send rest of £££ to school tomorrow for the charity collection...
