To be cross with neighbour feeding our cats

While we were away on holiday for a week, our neighbour agreed to feed our cats.

After a few days of holiday I sent a text asking if our cats were Ok and they answered to say that one cat had somehow got trapped in our bedroom and used our bed as giant cat tray.

Before I left I closed all the bedroom doors and made sure the cats were outside so I know pets were 'free' when we left.

On return at midnight last night I had to throw away a feather duvet, mattress protector, sheet and duvet cover.
The 'guilty' cat is very clingy and has broken nails.

I feel a bit pissed off tbh. AIBU?

You say you made sure the cats were outside - as in outside the house or outside the bedroom?

Nope, you're not being unreasonable. Don't necessarily blame your neighbour for doing a bit of snooping - some people just can't help themselves - but they should've made damn sure the cat hadn't sneaked into the bedroom before they shut the door behind them! My neighbour and I feed each others cats whenever we're away, and I've never felt the need to go poking round her house, don't think she's ever done it to mine either, or if she has, she's been smarter than your neighbour. I'd also have cleaned up the mess if it'd been me tbh.

Msrisotto I meant I made sure the cats were outside the bedroom.
They had access to the rest of house and to outside via catflap.
I feel pretty sorry for the cat. They never soil anywhere.
Our neighbour implied at first I must have shut the cat in, and when I explained that not the case now says her small son may have opened the bedroom door.
I like the neighbour but I am upset about this and don't feel I can really say so (they were doing us a favour and it wasn't intentional!).

YANBU, however, maybe it was their way of ensuring you don't ask them again

Well we always feed their fish and bring them a present back so it is not an entirely one-sided process!

YANBU, it's human nature to snoop but the nosey buggers should be more careful!!
