I am usually rarely ill, so was not really that worried about getting swine flu before as I am a healthy person. But I am 15 weeks pregnant and am expecting twins, which is a little high risk in itself- so I think it will be a good idea to get this vaccine to protect myself and my babies. At the same time, I would like to get my 16 month old DD vaccinated.

BUT, my surgery are telling me that they are only vaccinating people who are travelling to the southern hemisphere at the moment, and I should contact them again in October.

By then, I will be almost 7 months pregnant, and surely that will be when the flue will be around already?
AIBU to complain to my local PCT and insist I get vaccinated?

why would swine flu be around in october??

if you're that worried then pay privately for it

i personally think it's unnecessary though...

You are most at risk in the third trimester.

Also, this years Seasonal FLu jab will contain Swine FLu, and our surgery is making sure we get one of the "mercury free" ones. Pregnant ladies will be entitled to a free Seasonal jab this year if they have not already had the Swine flu one.

YABU. Like Riven said, why have any unecessary drugs in pregnancy? Swine flu vaccs is just a big con IMO, look at the bird flu a couple of years ago. I think it was shown to be a money maker (albeit by the backdoor) for pharma companies.

What are the risks from taking it to you and the babies?

If swine flue makes a comeback what's the chances of it being the same bug and not a mutated version that the vaccine will not help with?
