I am English. DP is Scottish. He loves to take the piss out of the English sports teams. As you can imagine it's been good fodder the last couple of days.
Anyway. He works away. My Mum works in a shop. She came round with a freebie ball for DD. It is an England ball, but it was free. DD likes it, she plays with it. No big deal. I'm not a massive football fan (anymore) so it doesn't matter what's on the flipping ball, but I knew it wouldn't escape a comment from DP when he got back tonight.
What I didn't expect was for him to say "I actually find that offensive" and chuck it out of the back door. Yes, it may be an England ball but it was a bloody present from my Mum! I don't say anything when his folks bring DD kilts, books about Scotland, Loch Ness toys....
So, it's ok for them to encourage the Scottish heritage side of things, but when it comes down to England it's "offensive"?
He's stormed out now for fresh air. Apparently I over-reacted when I went to get the ball back. I thought I was just standing up for myself. Ah well. First night back and it's gone tits up over a stupid ball.
