Ok, I ordered a pizza earlier and asked that the driver DID NOT knock on the door but come to the window (at the front next to the door)because it will make the dog bark and wake the dcs up (fair size dog, really loud bark).I was assured thats fine.

DS1 is really poorly with a chest infection and DS2 is only 10 months old and a really light sleeper. DH works nights so im on my own tonight.

Pizza Comes. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on the bloody door , so I try to shut the dog up (30 secs) and KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK again

Both boys are now screaming the house down.

I open the window and say 'the babies are awake now', reply was 'thats £6 '. I didn't say another word, paid and shut the window.

Settled both boys back down. Half an hour later get to eat the pizza and its cold.

Phoned pizza company and explained what had happened and said that I was less than amused. I was told that the instructions are on the reciept for the driver. I looked and it just says 'window' .

They said they would mention it to the driver. THATS IT! No apology nothing.

AIBU to be so pissed off or was it U to ask them to come to the window?

YABU - you need to train the dog.

snala · 02/07/2010 21:57

To do what?
Not bark when someone comes to the door?

YANBU - you specifically asked for something that was important to you. If they couldn't manage it they should have said.
When we first had dd (v light sleeper) and ordered takeaway we used to stick a note on the door and watch out the window to be ready for them just in case!
Yes hg, ideally the dog should be trained but maybe he is a good guard dog, maybe he is just a puppy and hasn't learnt yet, maybe snala hasn't had time with looking after dcs...

foureleven · 02/07/2010 22:01

oh dear.. you made the fatal error of expecting good customer service. You must learn to expect to be let down and anything else is a bonus

On the plus side... you got a pizza for £6??!!!

IamBatman · 02/07/2010 22:04

god that would piss me off normally I would say go somewhere else for pizza in future.
However, pizza for £6?!!

snala · 02/07/2010 22:06

Our dog is only 18 months old but is well trained to be fair. He needs to be a good guard dog as DH is at work at night.
( he would be useless if anyone actually got in but his bark is impressive enough to warn any uninvited guests!)

It only took 30 secs max for him to stop barking but as he is loud thats too late.

Next time I will use a note as well.

My point is though that I asked for them to come to the window and not knock.

YANBU. you asked for something and it didn't happen.

foureleven · 02/07/2010 22:11

aww snala its nearly over. The pizza must have helped?!

muddleduck · 02/07/2010 22:12

I leave instructions sellotaped to the door when I have food delivered.

doesn't always work. but mostly does.
