but are communication companies just s&^$te at communication!!!

We're wanting to swap broadband and telephone provider, simples as the adverts say or so I thought!!!

Rang my broadband provider Pimples or something like that, on hold for 25 minutes and they refused to give me the MAC code until I had discussed all my options with their cancellations team. So another 25 minutes on hold until I then got the hard sale and was pretty much told in a patronising tone that I would not find a better deal (which I have!), to which I cracked and shouted at the phone "just give me the f^&king code!!!" They then give me the code to which the new providers have said a digit is missing AAARRRGG!

AIBU that a communications company ought to be able to deal with customers quickly, efficiently and accurately???!!

All I wanted was a code to swicth providers! Its not alot to ask for and I'd already done my research into whom is offering me the best new deal. I'm going to weep gently now and stare at the bottle of gin in our cupboard which I can't have as I'm 23 weeks pregnant!

YANBU. I posted a couple of weeks ago about how ours processed our request to transfer services to our new house as a cancellation. They stole nearly £500 in cancellation charges using the direct debit which we needed that weekend in order to buy things before we moved.

We got the money back but we had exactly the same problems as you have have setting it up in the first place. Never again.

Mind you I can't think of one which we haven't had problems with at one time or another. I still shudder when I hear the word "Telewest" and all that was five years ago now...

DH reakons they are deliberately shite inefficient, so that you end up giving up and staying with them anyway! Thats awful that they tried to pinch £500 quid! Glad to hear you got it back!

I also shudder at 'Telewest' - we had a nightmare trying to get our phone connected - simples I hear you say - nooooo!

We waited in for the morning - no engineer. Called and was told to wait for afternoon.

We waited and waited - finally he arrived at 8.30pm. and when I expressed my outrage dismay at their service I was told that I had been called and a message had been left to explain the delay. No such call on my mobile and I told him so.

After he left and we tried to use the phone, we found a message waiting for us from Telewest saying their engineer was running late.

So they had left a message on the phone that wasn't connected yet to tell us the connection would be late. THUD

Nightmare!
