i'm 34 weeks pregnant and i have 2 dc's a 15 month old and an 8 year old with aspergers... we have a routine and the children are used to me doing everything with them as dp is usually out at work 4.30am-6pm weekdays... i make tea then i do the bath and bedtime stuff while he washes up/ cleans downstairs....

he is taking 3 weeks when the baby comes and we are trying to get the children used to him taking over a few things for when i'm not able to...

because dd is so young and ds's aspergers we have set routines that i stick to as much as possible to make my life easier

but dp doesnt listen and does it his way...ie when he remembers...

aibu in thinking since it will be the summer holidays which will throw both dc's off and there will be a new baby as well that asking him to follow the regular food/nap etc routine isnt a lot to ask... especially as i will be dealing with the fallout from it and a new baby when he goes back to work..

I can see where you're coming from, totally, you want your DC to feel as secure as they can and their normal routine could help with that.

But it's not easy for someone else to keep to your routine, especially with everything else that will be going on.

I've seen other posts on here where the way the DH looks after the DC can stress the mum out, I know your situation is different, but he is their dad and the children must know that he maybe does things a different way (and will perhaps take advantage of that fact to get away with blue murder? )

I'm only guessing, but could you be focusing on this as a kind of distraction from all the other huge stresses having another baby brings? I know that's what I did when I was preg with DD2 last year.
