about the road sweeper who was outside my window shouting and swearing 10 minutes ago, calling someone a "fucking pussy hole" and saying "come back here and I will kick your fucking cunting head in you wanker"

Yes I heard word for word because my living room window is open and he was directly outside it.

I said to him "Could you keep it down, i have 2 children in here and don't want them hearing language like that"

he replied "Fucking report me cunt"

So I did.

Sorry should have explained that he was in the street when a works van pulled up, as they do everyday, and they all started chatting. There was a van behind and the driver beeped which is what triggered the tirade of insults. To which the driver replied "I need to get to work"

yanbu- I think I would have complained as well.

that*s my new hobby. I think all the bus drivers in my area know me now, because I do complain if the drive inconsiderably.

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/07/2010 07:59

Mousy, i don't complain about the bus drivers they are okish where I am....maybe because DP is one lol.

But this man was so rude and obnoxious.

WHo the hell did you complain to who are open before 8 in the morning?

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/07/2010 08:03

Environmental dept (at the local council) noise pollution who in turned logged it with the street cleaning team.

I once logged a praise with the bus department, because the bus driver was very good

but I only complain when the drivers are really bad, like doing full stops at bus stops or speeding around corners so that people fall off their seats (has happend!)

Tryharder · 02/07/2010 08:07

YANBU. You could overlook/ignore the odd "fuck" or so but he was massively out of order. Can't believe how some people can be so rude. Serve him right if he loses his job.

motherbeyond · 02/07/2010 08:07

oh i would demand justice is done!!! no fucking way would i have that!

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/07/2010 08:14

I don't swear so the DC can hear, I don't want some random street cleaner behaving that way so they can hear- especially with an impressionable 2yr old...who copies everything he hears

good for you

diamondsandtiaras · 02/07/2010 08:21

as the mother of a 2.4yo who parrots absolutely everything she hears YWDNBU. I spilled tea on the keyboard the other day and said "oh for fucks sake" without thinking ........guess what DD's new favourite expression is?! I will be unable to leave the house for the next fortnight whilst she forgets about it........

Diamonds....thats what made me learn lol. A few months ago I dropped a baking tray on my foot and shouted out "shit fuck bollocks crap for fcuks sake that hurt" as you do when hot oil hits your skin....a couple of weeks later we were on a river trip up the thames. The boat hit a wave DS2's crisps fell out of his hand and all over the floor to which he exclaimed "for fucks sake"

Thankfully he didn't repeat the rest of what i had said

But someone tell me WHY do they learn the swear words so clearly??

OP posts:
picc · 02/07/2010 08:33

erm... surely the issue isn't so much that your DCs may have overheard some swearing, it's that someone who was at work, representing the council, called a member of the public (you) a cunt??

anyone else who did that would be severly reprimanded, surely??

if i did that to parents at school (i'm a teacher), i'd be sacked wouldn't i?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/07/2010 08:34

yes, you were right to complain for the reason picc says, and I would also put it in writing too.

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/07/2010 08:39

Picc, you are of course right...my thoughts turned to DC hearing tbh because my windows are open and this "man" was quite loud.

OP posts:
picc · 02/07/2010 09:04

yep... can understand that being your reaction (thinking of your DCs) and that's the reason you said something.

am just really shocked he'd call you a cunt! and no one seemed to have commented on that... really hope someone does something about it...
