DD2 is not well, she has just woken from a nap and her and DD1 were watching CBBC when we had a POWER CUT.
I am shouting as DD1 leapt up and started running around yelling POWER CUT, POWER CUT, FIND THE TORCH and DD2 started giggling and saying 'ooh, it's all dark (it is not, we are in wales, it had just gone 4)
They both ran upstairs and tried all the lights, and noticed the clocks had gone dark and got very giggly.
The power was out for about 5 minutes in which time they had set up house under teh dining table with playfood snacks, some tubes for torches and some books to keep them amused.
Unfortunately when the power came back on the tv powered up immediately so it was ruined.
They were havign such fun, i might switch it off tomorrow too

go for it

WitchyWooWoo · 30/06/2010 17:03

do it!

WitchyWooWoo · 30/06/2010 17:04

but do it sneakily so they dont know it was you ;)

good idea for winter...all the lights out, stories by candlelight and picnics!

lolabanola · 30/06/2010 17:06

lol I think that is a lovely story and think you should do it again tomorrow, it's nice to hear of kids that are playing and using their imaginations rather than being plonked in front of the tv .... I say go for it!!

bebemoohatessnot · 30/06/2010 17:07

Lovely idea! But too often and they'll cotton on...

weegiemum · 30/06/2010 17:08

I have done this when I can't get ds to switch off the playstation .......... works every time!

booyhoo · 30/06/2010 17:10

my mum used to do this so we would go outside and play.

Only issue I can see is that my laptop batteries died a few mnonths ago, so can only use it when it is plugged in. Which means I can't MN while I am playing 'power cut'

Might need rethink
