I mean, what is wrong with air conditioning or windows? Ok air con. is not great for fuel economy (so bad for the environment)but windows and sun roof are adequate surely? Don't you get terribly sunburnt and tangled hair? Particuarly, if I see a man driving one, I can't but find the word 'knob' in my mind. It isn't conscious, it just appears.

Farts will escape away faster. That is the main benefit of them.

DD and her partner are in their very early thirties and have a convertible sports car for fun and a sensible hatchback for shopping/long journeys. They live in Scotland and love driving with the top down through gorgeous scenery - forests, hills and along beachfronts. I don’t think that makes either of them a knob?

Convertibles are cool, fun, stylish and make the most mundane trip into a life affirming experience. I’ll hang on to mine. I’ll buy another one as well as soon as possible.

I love mine. Car number 1 is a nice but practical estate that makes me feel really grown up, other is an ageing Swedish convertible which has a ‘midlife crisis’ key ring on it. Bloody love it, was meant to be a temporary car but I’ll hang onto it until it dies.

There are disadvantages, you can’t swear loudly at other road users, you can really smell country smells and children whine in the back and need blankets. The advantage are just how relaxed you get, feel so much better after a trip out in it.

I don’t think you should knock it until you’ve tried it to be honest.

I bought my convertible brand new 33 years ago when the one I wanted first came out. I still own and drive it to this day.
I don't care what anyone else thinks of my car or me.

I bought one a few years ago and hated it, my husband loved it and drove it far more than I did.

Hairdresser's cars!!! My husband loves his and I think its the most fun thing I've ever driven!
Convertibles are ace!!

I loved all mine - had quite a few different ones over the years, both larger and smaller, manual roof and electric. Awesome. Had a private plate on them too.. hides

Can tell this thread is a zombie otherwise it would be inundated with posters berating convertible drivers for damaging the environment with their excessive fuel use And how tone deaf when everyone is on the bus these days

I've had 3 convertibles, there is absolutely nothing like the feeling of driving with the roof down, fills my heart with joy. I sadly replaced my last one with a sensible car as I now have 2 young children but one day I'll have another.

It came up on active 🙂🤷‍♀️
