he fell asleep at 20 to 5 and has been sleeping ever since. he didn't have his afternoon nap (usualy about 2). he usually goes to bed at this time. should i wake him now so he isn't up half the night?

sorry but I think you are in for some hard work whatever you do! IME if you wake him at this time you'll have trouble getting him to sleep by midnight. or leave him and he'll wake at 4am. good luck

argh, i know, i just dont know whether to let him wake himself or wake him and risk him being grumpy. he is 13 months. i am going to be up til the wee small hours aren't i?

I'd try rousing him, it's much better dealing with any tricky behaviour in the evening rather than the small hours!

lovechoc · 27/06/2010 19:07

I would personally wake him now and keep him up a few hours (give him dinner) and then do bathtime. It will be hard work when you normally get time to yourself but at least you know he won't be up during the night.

ok, i will lift him now, that has been two and a half hours. he never sleeps for that long. do you think it could be the heat? my aunt has invited me put for a buffet supper this evening but i said i wouldn't go as he would be in bed but i am thinking it might tire him out if i go now.

No, no , leave him! He will sleep through! I talk form experience.

If you wake him now, you wont' get him to sleep until about 11pm.

lovechoc · 27/06/2010 19:18

sounds like a plan to take him out and tire him out again. yes, the heat will have tired him out. I'm heavily pg and had to nap this afternoon and slept a lot longer than I normally would during the day!

Good luck - hope the evening goes smoothly!

LynetteScavo · 27/06/2010 19:18

oh, you want ot go out, so I suppose it'll be OK.

booyhoo · 27/06/2010 19:21

no, i dont necessarily want to go out. if i though he would sleep through i am happy to leave him, teh buffet isn't really important. so should i just leave him then?

I would wake him, feed him and get some fluids into him, otherwise he's going to wake up hungry and thirsty at 2am or some other ungodly hour!

I would take him to the buffet as it will tire him out, and then you will be able to get him back into bed by 11ish maybe and go still get a decent night's sleep.

[voice of experience, I have a bad sleeper emoticon]

I second what alibaba says.

booyhoo · 27/06/2010 22:53

well he woke just as i posted that last post so i changed him and fed him and then we went to the buffet. got back about an hour ago and he has just settled down to sleep so hopefully that will be him for the night.
