to be letting dd run riot in the garden with a sprinkler?

She is 4.

She is running around with the sprinkler in her hands, on full force iyswim, dressed only in her knickers (on backwards). None of the neighbours have washing out that she could get wet and it's warm but not hot outside. I feel really down today and it's making her really happy, is there a reason that I can't think of for making her stop?

Water and sunshine in the garden are some of my happiest memories of when my two were small.

Rocklover · 25/06/2010 17:10

No, YANBU. Me and my sister had many days running around the garden in our pants throwing water at each other (when little obv). Your dd sounds like she's having a lovely time and that makes you a very good mummy.

DebsCee · 25/06/2010 17:10

Of course YANBU

She's having fun and sounds like shess not annoying anyone - leave her to it.

It's what my boys love to do best on a hot day like today, I often join in

franke · 25/06/2010 17:11

Of course yanbu. Go out there yourself and join in the fun

JacobBlacksBitch · 25/06/2010 17:13

can I come over please? love sprinklers & lawns - happy childhood memories.

DramaInPyjamas · 25/06/2010 17:16

YANBU (as long as you don't come back here later and post about your evil neighbours complaining!)

Have fun! x

My DD does this every evening at the minute. She's 9 and does it completely starkers. Her favourite pastime is naked trampolining with the hosepipe spraygun hooked over the netting and going fullblast. God knows what the neighbours think.

driedapricots · 25/06/2010 17:24

of course not. are you actually just trying to make those of us stuck in hot sticky offices very jealous??!!!

2shoes · 25/06/2010 17:25

yanbu as long as you don't mind a water shortage(sorry I am one of those save water freaks)

Rockbird · 25/06/2010 17:27

I was shopping today and as a reward for 2.5yo DD being so good in the pushchair and not complaining I let her run riot through the fountains in the middle (they are flat on the ground types, always kids playing in them, it's a known water playground!) She had a whale of a time except she was soaked to the skin so I had to buy a towel and a change of clothes but it was worth it to see her face.

giveitago · 25/06/2010 17:31

Hope you are feeling less down OP. Nice to have dc's going bonkers with water - not often they can.

flibbertigibbert · 25/06/2010 17:49

YANBU. I'm very jealous of your DD for being at an age where that is acceptable behaviour. I can think of few things nicer than running through a sprinkler on a day like today. I'd get very strange looks if my neighbours saw me though

LaDiDaDi · 25/06/2010 19:50

She had a good time, feeling a bit cheerier too. Just got loads of stuff whirling in my head atm.
