just found out dd's class for next year and she will have 3 yr 9's in her class.
she is yr 11. surely they can't put ks3 into ks4 like that?
I know it is a sn school, but still

They can if they are performing above their level and might be taking GCSEs or whatever early I think? I've had kids put up early, some for all subjects and some just for a few. My husband has a few 14 yr olds on his A-Level Maths class. (He's the teacher, not a pupil!)

Why do you mind 2shoes?

wouldn't say I mind.....more that I am confused
just spoken to another mum, her dd should be in the same class but isn't and she explained it well(she's a govenor) does look like they are doing it on ability, so hopefully that will be a good thing for dd.(have rung school, as just need it explained iynwim)

Hopefully it will all go well, and if not you can always talk to the school about any issues as they come up. I hope she has a happy school year

phew, have heard from school
she isn't going backwards lol, in fact it is the opposite, they have now change it to stage not age, so she will be in a class with young people on her level.

Sounds like a great plan to me - if only all children could be taught according to their needs and abilities
