To think that fresh air won't kill anyone!

My entire family is fresh air phobic! We can't have a window open, ever! It drives me nuts! It's the height of summer and every window is shut tight! The kids couldn't possibly sleep with one open, neither could DP , apparently spiders could get in! Every time I open one, it gets closed. I'm going to melt!

I know how you feel Saggy - I love fresh air but DH hates an open window because "the moths get in" !! Not sure which is worse - a suffocating room or nag, nag, nag .....

whoingodsnameami · 22/06/2010 23:35

I could not cope with that, even in winter, my bedroom window is never shut, nor the bathroom.

paisleyleaf · 22/06/2010 23:40

Lidl's do a pretty good mosquito netting you can velcro into the window frame.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 22/06/2010 23:41

Summer 'fresh air'= hayfever in the house, flies, moths etc. The summer's not fun for everyone.

SacharissaCripslock · 22/06/2010 23:45

YABVVVVVVU. The spiders. The moths. The BEASTIES!!!! Your family are in the right.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 22/06/2010 23:47

Hay fever, don't forget that SCL. You open the windows and all the farking pollen comes into your house.

muggglewump · 22/06/2010 23:47

Are you back from the dead my mother?
Windows could never be opened in summer in case flies got in, and in winter they couldn't as it was a waste of heating, so really, the house was never aired.
Ugh.

I always have windows open, even when it's freezing in winter I'll have an window open somewhere.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 22/06/2010 23:50

Na, I open them. Not all the time though as we are hardly in the house. Damn hayfever though. It helps if the curtains are kept closed if the windows are open though.

You can buy fly screen material with some velcro stuff to make your own screens cheaply. Not sure if it stops pollen though it might reduce it, but it stops insects and means you can have them wide open.

onagar · 23/06/2010 00:09

Ah I see paisleyleaf already mentioned that. But it does work and it made the world of difference to my place.

paisleyleaf · 23/06/2010 00:12

Until I put that mosquito stuff up, I couldn't open the windows until I'd put the lights off first. Lots of mozzies and moths - and they do seem to like to bite me.
