My speech delayed 2.5 year old has FINALLY started talking?

I walk around with a silly pleased grin every time he says a word, no matter how small?

I was beginning to think it would never happen...

Won't be long before you're thinking "Oh for five minutes silence..." - can empathise as DS didn't speak til 4.

No of course not. She doesn't sound that delayed to me; whose son only started to speak at 3 and a half!

YANBU at all! My 2nd was speech delayed and didn't say mama until he was around teh same age felt sooooooooo good!

YANBU in the slightest.
DS also had speech delay and never spoke until he was over 3 and a year later although there are times when I think oh for 2 minutes peace I still get a thrill when I see his confidence grow, hear him sing and listen to him talk to other people and the understand him I totally totally understand how elated you feel.

My DS1 is now almost 20. He was very speech delayed, and went to school, aged 5, considered a non-speaker. The proudest moment of my entire life was when he stood up in front of a room full of people aged 18 and gave a speech that had all the mummies in tears (and most of the dads as well)

(My eldest didn't speak 'til he was 3. Was really worried about how he'd fare at nursery but all worked out in end. NEVER shuts up now.)

Knockraven I can just imagine how you feel

Awh mixed - he was captain of a team at school and they had gone to national champs and come second by the skinniest of margins.

And he stood up in front of all the coaches, the team, the parents and some other people who had travelled hundreds of miles to support them, and gave a really moving speech.

And my friend who was sitting beside me had tears streaming down her face (so did I but well I was his mum lol), she just kept saying "And that's wee DS1"

Just you wait, your DS will do something similar someday I guarantee!
