? After all, I have had afternoon drinks on a Saturday or Sunday before. I am not at work, I have no little children in the house and it's a lovely hot afternoon.

and in the absence of my supposed Appletiser taste bottles, cider is the next best thing to apple juice

YABU. A crisp glass of chilled Pinot Grigio would be much nicer

Go for it.

Saltire · 16/06/2010 13:41

Oh yes I have several 1 or 2 bottles of white wine in the fridge too.

would love a cider!! 30 weeks preg so off the cards for me - maybe an iced coffee or a lolly instead ho hum

boozing on your own tho? slippery slope!! make sure you stick to just the one glass or if the cider monster is really calling your name, maybe phone a couple of friends and have a drink with them

Saltire · 16/06/2010 13:42

slippery slope? no, no slope round here

compo · 16/06/2010 13:42

Hot? Where are you ?!

Saltire · 16/06/2010 13:43

Yorkshire. I am actually astounded at how hot it is, of course being a Scot and used to their weather my definition of hot probably varies from every one else's

lamplighter · 16/06/2010 13:43

OP wouldn't be boozing on her own - I shall track her down and join her. Sod doing these accounts - I'm off

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/06/2010 13:43

lol - enjoy.

Saltire · 16/06/2010 13:46

I could murder a cider just now....I've just finished cutting back our privet hedge at the front, and I am knackered. The headge was 7ft tall, 10 foot long and 3 foot wide! If it got any more out of control the postman would have been within his rights to refuse to deliver.

So I am all hot and sticky nad in need of refreshment.

But I need to collect the mankies from school, so no cider for me, just a quick shower and a cuppa!

mankyscotslass · 16/06/2010 13:47

And it's made worse by the fact next door are out the back with a couple of cold ones, relaxing on loungers in the sunshine.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 16/06/2010 13:53

Damn you saltire, damn you - I really really want some cider now, and I can't, because I have to drive later on in the afternoon.

LittleMissSnowshine - I didn't drink to excess when pregnant (I don't ever drink that much) but I did have the occasional drink or two - to be honest, a large Baileys in the evening was all that enabled me to keep the last shreds of sanity when pregnant with ds2 and ds3. The odd one won't hurt - honest.

Littlefish · 16/06/2010 13:55

Oooooh, I love cider!

I'm a teacher, and after doing parents' evenings, there's just nothing better than a lovely, cold pint of cider!

Snobear4000 · 16/06/2010 13:58

YANBU. Oh Saltire, why did you do that to me? Putting thoughts in my head. I'm going to have to show up at nursery school with booze-breath again. Lovely day for it.

porcamiseria · 16/06/2010 14:29

have one then!

Saltire · 16/06/2010 14:31

I have one , and my appletiser box has arrived so they are all in the fridge too

Cider is rank!

No. It is a headache in a bottle.

Just think of neds on White Lightning and it will pure put you off the idea.

CastleDouglas · 16/06/2010 14:51

A lovely cold glass of still Weston's cider would be perfect right now. I can't imagine it would help my driving though

Saltire · 16/06/2010 14:54

Expat - cider isn't rank, but then White Lightning isn't cider really,

CastleDouglas - great name, great place!

cupcakesandbunting · 16/06/2010 15:10

YABU if it's bench cider. If it's posh cider then nope, perfectly fine. Be round in ten.

CastleDouglas · 16/06/2010 17:06

Saltire, thanks, I love the place, just wish I could afford to move...it's too dull down south

Saltire · 16/06/2010 18:26

I'm from Dumfriesshire too, except further east

I'm guessing Dalbeattie? Tbh, I spent most of my adult life down south, but every summer, I'd be back, sometimes helping my aunt get her messages.
