I ignore those posters.

Take it on face value or dont bother.

I just cant be arsed with bending over backwards for something I want rid of!

diamondsandtiaras · 15/06/2010 12:01

YANBU. Fair enough to ask the height of a table I think, but i would have thought people would have the sense to realise it doesn't come with chairs if they're not included in your listing! Weight is maybe relevent too if they are intending to use a courier to collect it from you.......courier companies will usually want exact dimensions as well as weight.

As for asking for a helmet, pump and fluorescent clothes........that's just cheekk tbh.

diamondsandtiaras · 15/06/2010 12:02

cheeky not cheekk [

JaxTellersOldLady · 15/06/2010 12:02

I give away loads on freecycle/freegle and the amount of people who are rude/cheeky astound me.

I ignore them and offer it to others.

bleedingheart · 15/06/2010 12:06

YANBU - how rude and entitled are these people?!

jendaisy · 15/06/2010 12:34

It's the people that put 'wanted' ads for things like sat navs, ipods and wii's that make me chuckle! And then think 'twat'.

OutOutLetItAllOut · 15/06/2010 12:44

yes, totally.
i think some folk think they can ask for the moon!

"Fair enough to ask the height of a table I think, but i would have thought people would have the sense to realise it doesn't come with chairs"

you'd have thought so wouldn't you............except last year I listed a table on freecycle, got a polite response, he turned up to collect it............and wanted to know where the chairs were.......

ermm there aren't any, if you read the "offered" post I only mentioned a table..........

BigFatSepticToe · 15/06/2010 13:43

some freecyclers are the salt of the earth, (like myself, obviously)others are out for all they can get and really do take the p*!

wanted - changing bag, must be black to match my buggy....

wanted desperately......help! i really need a cream leather sofa as have just moved into my first flat and can't afford any furniture.......

I just treat these posts as entertainment! (and make a mental note of their name!)

libelulle · 15/06/2010 13:44

Asking dimensions etc is fair enough surely - saves wasting your time. Agree some people are really cheeky, but by the same token I also get annoyed when posters write things like 'table, to collect' or 'pushchair', with no sense that even when you're giving something away, it still needs to be fit for purpose for the person you're giving it to.

libelulle · 15/06/2010 13:45

(know you posted dimensions btw, just griping more generally!)

OutOutLetItAllOut · 15/06/2010 13:53

we got rid of a tv, i stated,
a few yrs old still works well, 24 inch.

i had 20 + replies, only 2 were interested after i said it wasnt flat screen!

toccatanfudge · 15/06/2010 13:56

actually I had a funny one the other day.

On Saturday I finally got round to sticking my old (got from freecycle) office chair back on as I recently treated myself to a big high back, with arms fancy one (MUCH more comfortable now )

Anyhow, I said it was black/charcoal coloured office chair, some stains/marks on the seat. Was one I'd got off freecycle and was putting it back on as I'd now got myself a new one.

Someone did ask if it was a big high back one or a smaller basic one............as he needed a basic one as he didn't have space for a big one.

The way he put it was so that he got it

Firawla · 15/06/2010 13:58

i put stuff free on gumtree on netmums local, you dont get so much of this kind of replies so maybe you can try those, yanbu it is very rude

OutOutLetItAllOut · 15/06/2010 14:04

cheers Firawla. i will have a look.
