To be annoyed with ebay …

... for removing listings on that had bids on.

It was for used nappies, and their policy is not to sell second hand nappies due to hygiene concerns, but I'm not selling soiled nappies !

I guess the policy is pretty clear when you are directed to it, so perhaps IABU, but I had no problem with listing them, nothing came up then, and they had bidders with only a day left to go and I have no way of contacting the bidders as they've removed those details.

I know I can use used nappy.co, and even pay out £5 to list on here, but why allow me to list them and have bids just so utterly fed up. It took ages to list them.

Clearly there is a market for washable nappies, and the whole bloody point of cloth nappies is that they are reusable. Hygiene concerns my arse! Please tell me there is a part of you that would be too!

Isn't it a bit like selling used pants?

tootootired · 12/06/2010 20:40

Did you already know and were being hopeful or was it a surprise to you?

YABU for being annoyed at their barmy/over-cautious policy but it IS the policy, quite a bit of outrage on here when it was introduced. Possibly the bidders will have got the same message so they won't think you are unreliable.

I sold all our nappies on usednappies if that gives you any hope. Ironic as I bought quite a few from ebay before the ban.

Thanks tootired, didn't know, and was allowed to list, that's why I'm fed up.

ebay do class nappies as used underwear, TTTT, that's why they were removed, but the point of reusable nappies is that they are reusable, and they are washed and sanitised fully!

Ive sold used nappies on ebay I wasnt aware it was against their policy.
I have had listings pulled because I said ''just like new'' which is also agianst there policy .
I called ebay and got told someone probably reported my listing this is quite commom apparently if someone is selling something similar and wants theirs to sell.

Very bloody annoying though.

diamondsandtiaras · 12/06/2010 20:53

TBH I don't understand why Ebay needs to have a policy on it.....as long as the buyer knows they are used what's the problem?

MrsThePoint · 12/06/2010 20:53

If that's the case, that's just mean! Am so about it.

I know this has been asked before but just in case... is there anywhere that's half as good as Ebay for selling used nappy items? I have tried MN classifieds, local paper, clothnappytree... I am utterly failing to attract interest in items that I'm pretty sure would have had some interest when Ebay allowed such things.

MrsThePoint · 12/06/2010 20:58

ebay does have a huge audience, no-where else has that size market. And I had bids!

Are pants not are reusable too? Are they not washed and sanitised fully?

MrsThePoint · 12/06/2010 21:00

Exactly TTTT - there IS a market for them. Not to everyone's taste!
