To want to watch the footie (even though I am a girl?)

I actually enjoy watching it but dh and dcs hate it and have been moaning because I am going out tonight and have asked my brother to text me the result(going to a restaurant with the girls rather than a pub). They can't see why I care. Even if I was staying in Doctor Who would be on...

Vulvas are vulvas

and vuvuzelas are vuvuzelas

and never the twain shall meet

seriously why should gender matter

Nothing wrong with wanting to watch the football, I will be with my 2 DD. Have been to many matches and love sport and watching it.

NormalityBites · 12/06/2010 14:17

You 'actually' enjoy watching it? Why is this surprising to you? Is it the first time you've watched a game?

And why would you watch something that you didn't 'actually' enjoy? To prove a point that girls like football?

Lizzylou · 12/06/2010 14:20

I love football and love the World Cup.
I am out tonight as well and will be trying to keep up with score, YANBU

SeaTrek · 12/06/2010 14:31

No, YANBU to watch the footie (even though you are a girl)

I don't have an issue with the gender side of it at all. This was intended to be an 'amusing' post...sorry! Just that this is only thing I have ever enjoyed that the rest of my family hates with an absolute passion. My dh is complaining that I feel so strongly about it that I have asked my brother (who is the best brother in the world) to text me the result. I know it isn't an issue for females to like footie, just wondered if anyone was the only one in their family? (I don't watch it because I fancy any of them either..)

I've organised my social life around the football for the next few weeks and do every world cup!

I love F1 and have had guys assume I know nothing about it really, or just watch for the hot guys (OK, I do look at them but hardly follow a sport with guys wearing helmets because they are hot).
Usually asking if they have been to a race shuts them up, as I have and the vast majority haven't.

It's good to know I'm not alone. If I was male and the only in the house to be interested I don't think anyone would care. Thanks for taking the time to respond

I love rugby and cricket and Greys anatomy and West wing and athletics and glee
and I don't give a toss what other people think of my viewing
I don't see why anyone would want to comment unless you intend to strap them into a seat next to you.
If your DH and Dcs wanted to watch shite l;ike britains got talent would you berate them or go and read a book. Anything other than just letting people watch what they want seems smallminded to me.

And my DCs telling me what to watch would earn them quite a lot of housework and chores
